Juan's All terrain vehicle under the operating table again

This is what my weekday commute looks like:

This here, people of the world is the perfect example of the terrain you would need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Fortunately we don't own one so my family had to make due with this.

That Ladies and Gentlemen is my family's Mitsubishi L300 van. It has been faithfully serving my family for the past 15+ years. and yes it is still working, until today. Yes I know that aesthetically speaking that it is ugly, old, rotten, and ugly but this car holds a lot of memories in it, more than 300,000 Km worth of it. Personally, it has been my service vehicle going to and fro our farm in Rizal for the past 2 years now. Unfortunately the terrain at the beginning of this post has taken its toll on the L300. Now it is under the knife again for another engine overhaul. To get back into the topic of this blog. Here is Juan's advice to people who own/drive their automobiles wherever they travel to, in order to save time and money.

1) Always check the coolant level of your car to avoid overheating.
2) At least once a week check the oil level of your car's engine. Remember Oil costs just a hundred or so Php per litter an engine overhaul can cost you upwards of 30,000 Php and will take up to a week or more to finish. Check your car's manual or the internet for the recommended engine oil for your car.
3) Pick your gas station. If it looks like the gas station is not frequented by customers then be wary as they may have old gasoline/diesel. Petroleum products losses potency as time passes and this might affect the performance of your engine and might increase wear and tear. Plus water in your fuel = bad.
4) If the check engine light...lights up then have it checked out. It might be something minor but it could also be the start of a serious drive-train problem.
5) Don't needlessly rev your engine while stopped. It might sound cool (to you...but it's not) but revving the engine without load can damage your engine in the long run. Plus it wastes fuel. Plus you look like an immature SOB. You SOB you.
